Is Bridal Makeup The Only Type Of Makeup You Do?
No. While weddings make up a large portion of my business, I do provide additional makeup services. I went to school for costume and special fx makeup for movies, TV and theater, and I'm always looking to for a new and exciting project to work on. Have a photo shoot or need new head shots (actor/model/corporate)? Family photos or a special event, group makeup lessons, I'm your girl. My availability and rates vary for each service so contact me with any questions you might have, and for a quote, I’d love to help you with any of your beauty needs!
Additionally for the last 4 years I've gotten into makeup design for theatrical productions, I am a company member with Step Up Productions as their Resident Makeup Designer, having been with them since their first show!
What Is a Bridal Trial?
The trial is the beginning of your bridal makeup experience with me. During your trial, we will take the time to have your initial consultation and talk about what you want to see on your wedding day. This is the time we review any inspiration photos you have collected, talk about your personal style, and colors and themes of your wedding. After the initial consultation, we get down to business and design a custom look just for you. While this time is all about you, I do welcome your mom, sister or maid of honor to join you.
Where Are Trials Done?
As a freelance makeup artist, I work on-location for 90% of my appointments. Which means I travel to you based on our availability for an appointment of your choice, either during the week or on the weekend during the off-season (November – March). Weekend appointments during wedding season are not available (unless otherwise discussed). Travel fees may apply if the trial takes place 30 miles round trip from Glenview, IL.
How Far In Advance Should I book My Trial?
As soon as possible. I would prefer not to do the trial any closer than 6-8 weeks before the wedding.
What If I Don’t Like My Makeup?
Believe me I want you to love the look we create together for your wedding day, but I understand sometimes it’s hard to put that look into words. I ask that my clients work with me and communicate when they don’t like something so that I can fix it. It’s just makeup! I can’t fix what I don’t know is wrong, and I want my future bride to walk away from her trial (and her wedding day) satisfied with her makeup look. I will work to get it right and resolve any issues you have with your makeup look, so your wedding day is easy breezy!
Do You Offer Faux Lashes?
Yes. This is a temporary application (no longer than 24 hours). Lashes are complementary to the bride for her trial as well as on her wedding day. They are also included in the rates for other members of the bridal party. If someone is not having makeup done but would like lashes applied, please ask about rates.
What Is Airbrush Makeup?
Airbrush foundation is a formula of makeup that comes in a wide variety of shades and finishes to match each and every skin tone. As a pro artist, I can custom blend colors to achieve the perfect match to your skin. Airbrush foundation is different from other forms of foundation because it is sprayed via a very fine mist through an airbrush gun that is run off of an air compressor. The key benefits of airbrush is that it looks like a natural and near flawless complexion, feels extremely lightweight and it photographs beautifully, while still looking natural in person. Airbrush foundations are meant to withstand heat, humidity, tears and even sweat. It is transfer resistant (not transfer-proof!) and will avoid leaving stains on your dress or your groom.
Do You Offer Hair Services?
I do not personally offer wedding-day hair services, however I can recommend very talented and experienced hair stylists. These artists work under the same standards I do.
What Products Do You Use?
All of the makeup products I use are professional brands that were designed to photograph beautifully. Some specific makeup brands include: Make Up For Ever, NARS, Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, TEMPTU, Viseart, Benefit, Laura Mercier, RCMA, and Kryolan.
Do You Travel Beyond The Chicago Metro Area?
Absolutely! I travel outside the Chicago metro area, as well as out of state for weddings or even international destination locations. Contact me today to discuss a personalized quote. Please note a travel fee may be assessed for weddings over 30 miles round trip from Glenview, IL.
Do You Charge Travel/Parking To Go On-Site?
Parking fees apply per location. All travel/parking fees are charged per artist arriving for the wedding party. And all fees must be paid in cash on the day of service.
Do You Use Other Artists For Bridesmaids/Others?
I bring on other extremely qualified makeup artists, only to accommodate larger bridal parties or a shorter time frame. Additional fees may apply if an additional artist is needed.
What Do I Need To Do To Prep My Skin?
I ask that you arrive to your service with clean skin and no makeup or traces of makeup from the night before.
How Soon Before My Event Should I Get A Facial/Waxing?
I would not recommend any facials at least 14 days before your special event. Facials can bring up unwanted imperfections that may need time to heal. Wax stays on the skin for several days and makeup cannot adhere until all the wax residue is gone. Please make sure these procedures are done far enough in advance, so you can insure your makeup application is gorgeous for your day.
I DON'T WEAR A LOT OF MAKEUP, BUT I STILL WANT TO LOOK BEAUTIFUL ON MY WEDDING DAY. SHOULD I HIRE A PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP ARTIST?
Absolutely! You don't have to wear a lot of makeup on your wedding day to look beautiful, it just needs to be applied correctly and with the appropriate products. If you don't want to look too "made up" for your wedding, I can give you a very soft, natural bridal look. It is most important on this day that your makeup lasts, looks great in photographs, makes you feel beautiful and is applied flawlessly to make you feel and look your best on this very special day.
Will My Makeup Stay Looking Fresh If You’re Not There?
I only use high-quality makeup products for your application that have been tested and vetted by me to hold up to all kinds of wedding-day torture. I use primers and setting sprays to ensure your makeup stays put. I do however suggest that each member of the wedding party have a lipstick or lip gloss to reapply throughout the night, as well as blotting papers or a powder puff to fight any traces of shine.
What Is The Timing Of Each Service?
On average I spend up to an hour with the bride and up to 45 minutes with each bridesmaid/attendant/mom.
Is Tip/Gratuity Included?
While gratuity is not expected, it is most definitely appreciated and accepted. (Industry-standard is 18%-22%). This can be added to your final invoice if you choose, as to avoid handling it on the date of the event.
What Forms Of Payment Do You Accept?
I accept cash, and certified check, or credit card (processing fee may apply) for all retainers and final balances. There is a $50 inconvenience fee for any returned checks PLUS any additional bank fees charged. And if the retainer is paid by check, the date is not confirmed/held until the check clears my bank.
How Do I Officially Book You?
I require a 50% retainer of contracted services to hold your wedding date exclusively, along with a signed contract. The retainer is applied to your balance due 2 weeks prior to your event date. I accept payment for the balance from only 1 person.
Are There Any Extra Fees?
There is an "Early Start Time" fee of $75/per artist that can be added to any bridal party needing makeup to begin before 8am. There is also an optional "Opt In" fee for an "In Case of Emergency Artist".
Can You Cover My Visible Tattoo/Scar For My Wedding Day?
Most tattoos and scars can be covered and/or muted for an additional cost. Please contact me for more information. Prices are based on size of tattoo. All tattoo covers that are requested for a wedding, require a trial, for any bridal party member. If no trial has taken place before the wedding, the tattoo will not be covered. And there will be no refunds for not covering it.
How Can My Images Be Featured On Your Website/FB/Blog?
I love to feature my past brides on my website either as examples of my work, or in a featured post. Once you've received your images from your photographer and picked out the ones you want to share with the world, please send them to me and I will be happy to post them with credit to your photographer and any other vendor information you provide.
